Axes

Axes are the only tool that is not actually needed for anything but to lessen the work of a task. Axes are used for breaking blocks that use wood faster than using your fists. The better the materials the faster the wood cuts. the axe itself is only for breaking faster, useless...

Griefing

Griefing is another way of saying that someone has ruined or broken a structure. On multiplayer servers this can result in being banned and not being allowed back on the server.

10 Types of Griefing
  1. Stealing- This is the most basic, it is when you get into someones house and take items out of chests.
  2. Smashing-This is when you physically break a structure.
  3. Smashing(Chests)- This is when you break a chest and leave the items that were inside to de-spawn.
  4. Flooding- This is when you fill a structure with a liquid(lava or water)
  5. Encasing- This is when you surround a structure or area of importance with a hard to break substance(obsidian, stone, cobble etc.)
  6. Filling- This is the opposite of encasing because instead of surrounding a structure with the substance, you fill it.
  7. Filling(items/mobs)- Instead of filling an area with a substance you either spawn many mobs inside or fill with random items(mine carts, boats, items etc.)
  8. Replacement- This is when you take out a wall and replace it with something less appealing
  9. Burning- This is when you burn a place down with a flint and steel.
  10. False Blocks- There are different ways to do this such as putting a fence post under a stair block will make it impassible, or putting ice under half slabs to make people slide and many others.

Some people have even started griefing clans who go around and secretly grief servers for fun, some of these people post videos of griefing, such as- Team Avolition, icanhasgrief, Team Paradox and many more.

Ender Dragon

Enderdragon healed.png
ENDER DRAGON HEALING HIMSELF
The Ender dragon is the boss that you must defeat to "beat" the game and see the end credits. The only place he spawns is in the End Dimension and the portal to get there is in a stronghold somewhere within your world. The portal is possible to be found alone but the easiest and most common way is with an Eye of Ender. The eye is used to find and restore the portal. When an Eye of Ender is equipped right-click the mouse and it will float for a short distance in the direction of the end portal. Retrieve the eye and repeat until the eye starts to head downwards. Carefully dig downwards until you appear within the stronghold. Within the stronghold is a library, and around a corner is the portal itself. The portal room has a silverfish spawner at the base of the steps, a pit of lava under the portal frame and an uncompleted end portal. In order to complete the end portal one must use an Eye of Ender on an empty part of the frame. When complete the portal will be filled with a strange starry black light. Jump into portal above the lava and you will teleport to a strange lit underground space. Dig out and you will see many Ender men and an Ender dragon above with a large purple health bar (the only way out of the end is either death or defeat of the Ender dragon. On top of large obsidian pillars are Ender crystals which heal the Ender dragon so destroy these from a distance because they explode on destruction. Once the crystals are gone you must face the Ender dragon who will charge you and deal half of your health in one hit. When you attack it it will turn back and charge from a distance. When killed another portal will open up with and Ender dragon egg on top of it. Right click the egg to get it on the ground, then use a piston to pick it up (as of now there is no use for it). Jump through the portal to exit the end dimension and you will see credits and a strange conversation. Afterwards you will re-spawn at your re-spawn point or bed if you have one. If you re-enter the end nothing will change and the portal will still be there.

Pickaxes

257.png
IRON PICK
Pickaxes are tools used to mine natural ores and stone. Some ores take longer than others to break with different types of picks. your hands can break whatever needs to be, but picks are needed to collect the resources and they speed up the process. The order of strength and speed, least to greatest, and what blocks they can pick up are listed here.
(any later tool can pick up all that the previous pick can, including the listed.)

Hands- None
Gold(weakest/fastest)- Equal to stone in blocks/ equal or faster than diamond in speed
Wood- Stone, Coal, Mossy Cobble, Netherack, End Stone
Stone- Iron, Nether Brick, Lapis Lazuli
                                             Iron- Red stone, Gold, Diamond
                                             Diamond- Obsidian

A Pick is crafted like so:
 _____________________________
|                |                        |                  |
|RESOURCE|   RESOURCE   |RESOURCE |
| _______ | ___________ | ________ |
|                |                        |                  |
|                |      STICK      |                  |
| _______ | ___________ |_________|
|                |                        |                  |

Modification

Modifications, or "mods" for short, are downloads that are used to change the game play for a more challenging and immersible session. There are mods for basically anything you can think of such as new places, mobs, movement and even ways to be god-like. Be warned though some mods are harder or longer to download than others, the same goes to getting rid of them. Some mods are still in the process of being made but are out for testing purposes, so don't blame the creator just watch for updates to get a mod that supports your version of Minecraft. There are a lot of places where mods can be found such as websites, video links and the Minecraft forums.

Mobs

A mob is a NPC that you can encounter during your adventures. These include monsters, villagers and animals. Some mobs like monsters can only spawn at night, and if in sunlight will burn (excluding spiders and creepers). Animals only spawn when there is enough light and grass for food. A villager can only spawn when there is a suitable house to live in nearby. When there are at least 15 villagers an iron golem will spawn to protect the village. There are even mobs that spawn at any level of light, such as a squid which will spawn anywhere as long as there is water. Lastly some mobs only spawn in a certain dimension. There are many types of mobs, some will help you, others kill you, and some are just to make it more exciting.

The Nether

THE NETHER
The Nether exists in a completely different world from the normal world above. The terrain is dimly lit, full of lava streams flowing from the ceiling, sudden cliffs, and lava lakes, making it extremely dangerous to explore. The ceiling and the base of the Nether are made of bedrockWhen re-entering the normal world, any distance covered in The Nether is multiplied by 8, effectively making The Nether a fast-travel zone that allows for greater distances to be covered in a short amount of time in the normal world. Water cannot be brought to the Nether due to the fact that all water placed will evaporate immediately due to the extreme heat and will instead turn into steam. If a Bed is placed at The Nether and is right-clicked on, it will explode with a lethal blast radius.

PORTAL TO NETHER
Walking through a portal will not teleport the player―in order to use them, the player has to stand still inside the purple haze. Due to recent updates animals are now able to enter the nether through the portal. Strangely hostile mobs do not enter and animals when in portal teleport instantaneously.

Obsidian

Obsidian.png
OBSIDIAN
Obsidian is the strongest place-able block in Minecraft. It is only found near lava, and is created when water touches a lava source. To mine obsidian, a Diamond pickaxe must be used. TNT explosions will NOT destroy obsidian.

NETHER

NETHER PORTAL
Obsidian is also the only material that can make a Portal to The Nether, Then, the bottom obsidian blocks should be lit on fire with Flint and Steel.

Snow Golem

SNOW GOLEM
Snow Golems are unique mobs that are created by players. When created, as they walk, they leave snow trails for the players to collect.

Behavior

Snow Golems throw snowballs at hostile mobs, provoking them. This gives them an almost suicidal nature, as the thrown snowballs do not do significant damage, except to Blazes and the Enderdragon. Snow Golems attract enemies, making them useful for luring enemies into traps. They are also capable of drawing enemies away from the player.

How to Build

To create a Snow Golem, the player must vertically stack two Snow Blocks on the ground, then place a pumpkin on top of it. This does not require a crafting table.

Pumpkin

PUMPKIN
A Pumpkin is an uncommon block that appears most commonly in forest biomes, but can also appear in sandy and snow covered areas. Planted pumpkin seeds grow into a central stem that grows until it reaches its maximum size, at which point pumpkins will randomly spawn in vacant farmland next to the stem. When worn as a helmet, the player may look directly at Endermen with no consequences, making it useful for going outside at night.

JACK-O-LANTERN
Pumpkins can be use to make Jack-O-Laterns, a decorative item that lights an area up.

SNOW GOLEM

Snow Golems can be crafted by vertically stacking two snow blocks on the ground, then placing a pumpkin on top of it. Snow Golems defend the player from hostile mobs.
